Right click on your start bar and chosoe properties. Click on advanced and there should be a remove button there that will allow you to remove them from your startup menu.

i don`t seem to have the advanced option squarebear i should have said i`ve got windows xp sp2 if that makes any difference
It's there (never seen it before ... but it's there -

having said that ... it only does part of the job
personaly I use this little util
download - Startup Control Panel
http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml

I prefer this to msconfig (window's very own util (and the one you're thinking of?) as you can keep all the entries and switch them off or on without the nags

Click Start
Click Run
Type in box : msconfig
System Configuration Utility Window comes up
Click Start Up Tab
Take tick out of the window of the object you wish not to load on start up.
You can always reselect it at anytime by replacing the tick.
