Wounded husky nursing a cut above island (6). Is it kyUshu or kyAshu (anag. of husky and a)?

Looking at the internet, both appear to be islands. However, I thought it was spelt with a "U".

Many thanks Aperio

I would go with Kyushu - using "U" meaning "a cut above" - the upper classes etc
A word of advice - always use an atlas or a dictionary (Collins) for geographical names in the Times crossword (or any crossword for that matter). You can find just about anything you choose with internetsearches.
A slightly more intelligent use of Google would soon tell you KYASHU doesn't exist. I found 72,900 hits for "island of Kyushu" and only 2 for "island of Kyashu", one of which was obviously a misprint and the other from fiction.
The internet is invaluable but it's not a dictionary.
