DS is a musical sign = dal segno
No Aperio it is a musical abbreviation. D S stands for Dal segno which means 'from the sign'
In fact,Aperio, In good crossword compiling practice, the definition shouldn't also be part of the cryptic section. In that one, 'Dips' was the definition.
