Isit true that someone has published a novel under the name of Kurt Vonnegut's fictional alter ego Kilgore Trout? If so, who was it by, what was it called and did K. Vonnegut mind?

The novel is called 'Venus on the Half-Shell' and was written by literary critic and aspiring sci-fi writer Philip Jose Farmer, and published under the nom-de-plume Kilgore Trout. He had obtained Vonnegut's permission before publishing the book, but apparently after the book came out Vonnegut became angry, accusing Farmer of attempting to ride on the back of the established author's reputation.
Another book by a fictional person was Fly Fishing, by JR Hartley, after the rather soppy Yellow Pages ad that featured the character.
