i am wiring my extractor fan to the lighting circuit so it comes on with the bathroom light.it was wired into my shower switch but this is now illegal.
my question relates to the wiring- there is 1 red wire and separate twin and earth coming from the 2 small white fused control boxes which are connected to the actual fan.i have cut the wiring to the b/room light with a view to reconnecting using a junction box, however i need to know where the fan wiring gets connected inside this box.i have tried various ways with no success.i thought i would be able to feed off the live feed straight to the fan but no luck.please help...

The lack of information makes it difficult to know where to help. I guess my first question is why are you changing something that works? Even if there are new regulations on this wiring arrangement, they only affect new and refitted wiring. All older applications in homes are generally "grandfathered" in.

the reason i am changing it is because it is illegal.
i need to get a live feed into the fan and a switch feed but i need to get the right equipment and buy a book or some electrician out there could guide me cos i know it would be very simple for someone who knows or is doing it every day
Me thinks you have to be an electrician and Part " P " qualified to alter the wiring in yoor bathroom - just to change the feed from the shower to the light means installing new cables and to do it without being qualified is illegal :o)
Get a spark in and be safe.
