Valentines across the Atlantic?!

My girlfriend lives in Los Angeles,CA
My first question is: Do they celebrate St.Valentines Day is America?

My second question is: I dont have much money to my name at the moment. I want to send her something like flowers and a card. I know these are traditional and still great ways of showing love but i want to send her something that makes her shivver and remember me and realise she needs to be in England with me without it costing a bomb.

I would send her a picture of you looking in a really expensive jewellry shop window

Yes, they do. I think they celebrate it more than we do.

If you're strapped and she has access, an E-card with something personal in it should do the trick.

You could write her some poetry, nothing spectacular, just something she would know you wrote.
Or a letter (in email form) where you basically tell her exactly how you feel about her, how much you miss her etc, how your world is a wintery wasteland without her warmth etc... (Something like that).
She should appreciate that you don't have much money but the thought will definitely matter here.

send her a pic of you in a 'perfect' setting..could be in bed (if you're that close to her?) or in a nice restaurant, with your arm round an 'invisible person' and a caption saying... "the only thing missing is you" or something else cheesey like that

They certainly do have Valentines Day in the US - but they don't do the anonymous thing in cards. They think we're pretty weird when we put question marks etc...

They do it BIG style and you can always call a local florist and do it over the phone, might be cheaper than Interflora or summink.
