Sue,

According to the Economist the construction firm Kongo Gumi is the oldest company in the world. It was founded in 578 in Japan by Shigemitsu Kongo, a carpenter from the ancient Korean kingdom of Baekje who was invited to Japan by Prince Shotoku. His descendants maintained the family business continuously. Can't see anything in Scotland beating that?
3. Scotland beat Ireland to retain Golf's Home International Championship in 2005 at Royal Sandwich, Kent. This does not, however, fit your world title description - is it definitely a world title?
