Just one more question, additional to my earlier posting, and thanks in advance to anyone who can assist or point me in the right direction !
Which musical instrument was quoted with approval by (a) A 16th century religous reformer, and
(b) a 19th century clergyman and wit - both with Scottish connections ?
So, I need two names and a musical instrument, please, and perhaps I shall have found the lost chord !!!

You should be able to identify the people concerned from the clues given. Then look them up in a Dictionary of Quotations and/or a book on english literature.
I wonder if it is Trumpet
Sydney Smith quote...My idea of heaven is eating pate de fois gras to the sound of trumpets.
John Knox wrote several pamphlets .. The first blast of the Trumpet .. etc
Scottish connection John Knox obvious , not sure about Sydney Smith who was very rude about Scotland.!
One question for you. WHY do people like you send for quizzes? What pleasure do you get from having them answered by someone else?

Thank you slaney, and, yes, marvinparvin, I have already done what you suggest - without success, hence this posting on the Answer Bank.
I send for quizzes, Spotty Dog for the pleasure I derive from hunting down the answers - by any reasonable means available. In this particular case, also, a worthy children's charity benefits from the 20 entry fees for each of two sets of 150 Quiz questions - and as I have already informed you, in reply to another of your rude postings, I, not others, have currently solved 150 and 130 respectively.
In the future, may I suggest that you if you have nothing constructive to say that is within the friendliness of Answer Bank, then you say nothing at all.
