Many thanks, but I'm not entirely sold on it. Spheroblast?Spheroplasm?

Has 'Bradman' got his eye properly on the ball this week? In 17 across he seems to be confusing Richard Hannay with Robert Powell, who played the character in the film of the thirty-nine steps

I must say, Charm-lite, that SPHEROPLASM seems the more likely, but I can not find it in any dictionary or "search"

Kulatron, SPHEROPLAST and SHEROBLAST fit ok but neither seems to answer the clue.

Any more ideas out there?
