They,ve done it again!!! No shaded squares, no highlighted clues! Poor Michael Mepham - how he must dread Mondays, waiting to see what c***-up the typesetters have managed again.

However at a quick glance (all I have time for at the moment) I have spotted two of my guesses for the combination phrases so I shall persevere.

I expect it will be declared null and void as usual. WHY does it keep on happening?
Dreadful. But rather than abandon the competition, they should let us try to find the matching words for ourselves.
guess we are looking at ealing comedy/globe trotter/punch bowl/voting booth......but past experience says the telegraph will save itself another 250.00 and void it!!!
I've always sent my entry regardless, but to no avail. It's about time they accepted we are capable of working it out for ourselves, and accept the entries submitted. I can accept the error once, but this is getting beyond a joke.
I have just come back from the paper shop and I checked the Crossword and saw NO shaded squares so didn't BUY not worth wasting 70p as will be void again, it worth looking if you get from shop, at least the Express Big Monday is a good prize and also the crusader all for 40p.
Good luck everyone.
Just got the paper! What a joke! Agree...they should give a bonus prize to the completed entrant who guesses the link clues without them being highlighted!
I agree with Paul, Pega and Pauline that it would be equally acceptable to determine links for ourselves, and there would then be little chance of printing errors voiding the crossword. it is a great pity that this continues to happen, as we probably all agree that the two weekend GK crosswords are great "entertainment " in respect of the diversity of the clues.
Have just spoken to the Telegraph - they apologise but, as expected, it is void!
I am as angry as everybody else, but i do not agree with trying to decide what the 4 pairs are. Some of them are pretty strange combinations as it is, and I am sure there would be plenty of words that could be paired together that would be incorrect. I only read the Telegraph and wonder if other papers have the same error rate
I agree, this is getting beyond a joke, as there seem to be errors virtually every week.
Is it worth a campaign of some sorts from all of those who use this site to the Teleghraph?
Thanks Clivetoll for confirming that it is null & void. Will do the crossword but save myself a stamp and not send it in. It is SO disappointing. I look forward to it and feel very let down.
To London lassy
I do lots and lots of crosswords and this Monday one has the worst record of all I have now given up even thinking about this crossword adieu to the Herculis

I am frusrated when they mess up the crossword like this but I cannot imagine not having a go at solving it.
I've given up on this crossword. Had got into the habit of looking at the grid before buying and when I saw yet another mistake (anyone remember the errors in the Christmas puzzle?) have decided to stick with The Times - never ever seen a mistake in the Times crossword !
There is absolutely no reason for the crossword to be voided! The prize should be awarded anyway to whoever completes the puzzle and is drawn out of the hat first. It should not be about linking words, after all it is a crossword puzzle - the linking words are just a side issue. They are getting the cash in for the paper, and it's too late to return it after discovering their mistake. I'm sure they discounted the shaded clues just recently when they made a similar mistake. Shame on them!!
They should either print a warning that it will be void if they make a mistake, or do as Elspeth suggests. The surely can't keep letting us down like this.
Perhaps they've run out of pens!
Have printed all these comments and will send them to Val Gilbert at the Telegraph just to give her some idea of the disappointment and frustration created by these errors. Will suggest she send me some "money off" vouchers !!!
Cheshunt good to know you will send commments when it happened last time I sent an email and asked for a refund of what I'd paid for paper but got no response so you'll be lucky to get vouchers, best thing is to check before you buy as I was caught out the last times but not again.
My Herculis was fine although the shaded squares could have been slightly darker. Maybe the printer was running out of ink!
