(Supposedly) Cryptic Crossword

Is not any faster at splitting points (4)
E?T?

Now, EATS would fit (East and South split by At), but I'm not happy with it as I can't see where the 'faster' element comes in.

EATH - Scottish adjective/adverb meaning easy or easily - also fits but doesn't match the clue; neither does EFTS (unless my knowledge of newts is inadequate)...

So, please help.

Thank you, Kayakamina - blatantly obvious when spelt out, isn't it?

Interesting, though, as this clue comes from another local crossword - on the Isle of Man - and was only published on Tuesday this week, whereas the previous posting was last Saturday.

I didn't realise crosswords were syndicated.
