I have seen several people asking for help with this already and I would just like to say (a) it has only just come out and (b) the closing date is not till January 2007. Have you really tried and failed to find these answers.

A very good point smouse However, the responsibilty lies with the poser of the question - not the helper, who will often have absolutely no idea of the source of the question.

My sympathies are with you. In the past, I have found that appealing to the offender has very little effect. Personally, I will think twice before answering a question explicitly containing a colour.

Thats why I put it on separately as I guessed the people giving answers wouldnt be aware. Lets face it one of Robin Hoods men - answer containing a colour is hardly difficult - lol
Are you two taking things a bit too seriously. I am happy to help any time if I can (although I mostly get beaten to it)
I don't know where this colour quiz comes from but I have just received the results of the Matlock Quiz which I enjoyed both doing and a bit of friendly repartee on this site. I only heard of it through the site and I think this may apply to some of the other quizzes for charity. I would think a bit of early publicity for these would be welcomed and could boost their funds.
As a prizewinner in the Matlock quiz I'm thinking of the best way to splurge 4 would love to share with all the 'helpers'
Have to agree with wendyl -

tis' nae a biggy to provide an answer if you know it.
Good for you wendyl, now don't spend it all at once now will you ! lol I got my Matlock back today 1141/2 out of 120. Considering I really struggled with these place names I was pleased I didn't get more wrong, and I got a lot of help from ABers.Did you also get the next one. I wonder if it will be acceptable to send money in with the entry ?
Have fun with your winnings. xx
I, too, provide answers wherever I can. However, I have always been astonished as to why anyone would ask for answers to puzzles such as crosswords in any case. Questions about Sunday newspaper puzzles, for example, usually start appearing on this site before some of us have even had Sunday breakfast!
Surely, if you settle down to a puzzle of any sort, you should see it as a 'battle' between you and the setter rather than a 'battle' between you, + 500 other people, if you don't get an answer almost instantly, and the setter!
Certainly, if you have racked your brains long and hard and the date for posting is upon you, then OK...ask. But not until then.

It was only a little moan - honest - lol
I dont believe though Wendy that you didnt do as many as you could before you asked for help. Its a great site and maybe its my fault but the urge to look at the answer is just to great. Not only that if it said which quiz then maybe the organisers would see it and advertise it for everyone to buy.
This is Answerbank - we are the ones who provide the answers and if we don't someone else will. Not everyone knows who the good and bad posters are. There are people who use the AB site like Google but they are not doing anything wrong - each to their own - it's what makes the world go round
Answerbank is just for FUN when it comes to quizzes. I like the challenge of helping if I can. If someone wants the challenge of doing the quiz themselves, then they don't have to look on this site.

I am astonished at how irritable some people get - there was a flood of comments aimed at one individual yesterday which I thought was quite uncalled for and made me want to help the poor soul.

However I am pleased to see that Marlboro quizzers are being politely directed elsewhere as they were starting to swamp the site!
i've only just sent off for this quiz, it does spoil it when i cant look at a new quiz without having seen loads of the answers.
i try to only ask for help in the last couple of weeks or later. i ,ve had some great help in the past--
i wish i could get to answer more questions on the board--someone has often beaten me to it!!

Thanks Mozzie - glad to get a bit of support.
I see someone has now asked a question off the rainbow quiz which is only just out. I wonder if those people who didnt seem to like what I said will respond in the same way to those who are not happy with this being asked so early
Hi smouse, I see the responses here as supportive rather than giving you flack. I don't criticise the people who offer answers as most haven't a clue when each quiz/puzzle came out or when its entry date is. I agree with Alibobs, once a question has been asked, you cannot criticise anyone who answers it (that is what this site is for). However, I am with you smouse in criticising the poster who hasn't bothered to make any effort on their own behalf first.
Nicely put, gen2 That's precisely the point I attempted to make. Since joining AB some 18 months ago, I have given 2222 answers (not all of which were correct) and posted 36 questions.

More importantly, I have "met" (in a virtual sense) a number of nice people.
I agree with smouse,I personally, and I think quite a few other people do quizzes to test the old grey matter, when people are asking for answers when there is such a long time before the closing date is beyond me,I do Sunday Express,Mail on Sunday crosswords, and if I cant answer them for myself,I dont post it.I google for the answers,I look in my numerous books for the answers.I have asked questions on the Rainbow Charity quizzes, but I wouldnt dream of doing it till a couple of weeks before closing date.I think in most cases it is a touch of idleitus
What a shame some of you feel the way you do. Getting together to solve answers which are proving difficult is like meeting up with friends. If oyu've spent lots of time with a new quiz and not really making progress what's wrong with getting a bit of encouragement to go on rather than discard?
I downloaded the new rainbow quiz after seeing references to it here which was described as difficult. As its so new I probably find it helpful to get a few answers as a guide to how the setter's mind works. If its too long before any success its easy to give up, I don't see anything wrong with getting a bit of encouragement. As for seeing the answers to a quiz being shown too early - you don't need to see if don't want to mozzie
I only got interested in the Matlock quizzes from AB I doubt I would have got such a high score without help and an earlier one I puzzled over for hours and eventually gave up. I have spent several evenings puzzling over the latest with some success but it seems I shouldn't ask for help yet!
I may be 'retired' but there are limits to my time and these 'lectures' are rather spoiling the fun. I must confess to getting some of my answers from other people's questions and can't see why that should upset anyone and it beats TV for entertainment quite often I admit however to agreeing with ageing fast and others regarding Marlboro
A quiz question is only easy if you know the answer!! I have posted a couple of questions on this Colours quiz myself and believe me, one or two answers are pretty difficult to find even by doing a search with Google. I was given answers to two particular questions by very helpful subscribers to this site and rather than just accept them I tried to find them in the dictionary, thesaurus and Google. I only found them on US web sites, one for each of the answers, in spite of all my searches prior to this.

And as for the closing date being in January 2007 I do think that is just too far ahead in many ways, although I realise that they want the quiz to reach as many people as possible in order to raise as much money as possible for the charity concerned.

And I agree that some people seem to be treating the whole matter a little too seriously. It is meant to be a bit of fun as well isn't it?!
A further thought. I have searched this site for other questions on this latest Colours Quiz, or other similar ones, and not found many!! And it's mostly the same few questions that seem to keep cropping up. So it looks to me as if people do try to answer most of the questions themselves.
If anyone knows differently about there not being many occurrences of these Colours questions then do let me know!!
