any joy on the first question
Wait for it, johnalex! You have "fair" in the question, so it shouldn't also appear in the answer!

What about "Sonny & Cher" (Reads as Sunny & Share!)
Not bad , eh?
Question Author
good answer never thought of that thanks franny
I think that No.1 is a typical triple like "hook, line and sinker" and they want "line & sinker".

Say "rod, pole and perch" is the starting point, where we have rod = stick . Hence, "Pole & Perch" follows ROD (stick). I am far from totally convinced, but this just might spark someone else off!
Hiya Crofter - well done for 'Sonny & Cher' - brilliant even!
Not totally sold on 'Line & Sinker' but don't have anything better to offer . . . will stay on the case. ja

(Meanwhile, I'm trying to find a way to download a Rottweiler to scare off these 'Whiskas Cats' at the top of my screen. They're giving my mouse pointer the wobbles . . . . does anyone else have this problem? This is not just advertising, it's threatening behaviour!)
dog and pony for #1 ?
