hi there , think he made a mistake with this clue as it is only 8 letters in total . I have put St.Helena in although that is not Australian .

Thank you bridgenut. Maybe it's a reference to St Helens? Thanks for pointing out his mistake - I would have never got that!
I wondered if the answer should be Sth Elena, from St Helena as the Northern town?
Thinking further about the answer , perhaps it's St.Helens , then without the S ( not South ) then plus A ( for Australia ) and the whole answer refers to an island , hence St. Helena . Just a thought .
It is St Helena, bridgenut. But what's all this about 3 down? 3 down has 7 letters. I guess you mean LEE for 10 across, but then my Lecture for 3 down must be wrong.

Do any of you regulars know whether grids containing altered solutions are valid entries?
