Question Author
Whoops... crossed posts there!

Hi shaneystar2,

Are your letters correct for 8d, as I can't get anything at all with them in my spellchecker.

Val.

I'm glad someone appreciated my home being on SG. Look out for me if you come down on one of those tourist ships - I'm usually near the try-pots in front of the manager's house of the old whaling station.

Sorry about 8d, I have nothing to suggest for that.

Question Author
Hi Val ...I can't get anything either ..I have come up with Antimonial but this makes my 17A wrong
17A is...
Eg,Barenboims lost a degree in enthusiasm.
I had Estro .maestro less the MA (degree). But I can't find any word such as Estro.
If Antimonial is correct ..which I think it Is then the letters i have left for 17A are E?T?N

Chambers

Estro ( Enthusiasm or height of poetic inspiration )

Question Author
No...Estro is correct ...have just found it in Bradfords.
So ...still struggling !!
Question Author
Thanks Val .....
This now makes my clue what it was in my post . I'm sure all my across clues are correct.

Hi again,

Only thing I can come up with is EXTEMPORAL, (Spoken or done without preparation ). But It doesn't fit with your A, and i can't get my head round the clue.

Many thanks gen2 and Val for your help.
Question Author
So obscure these clues in saga val .. Act (do) O (nothing) my (the setter)
sin (offence) and swallowing an O for old.
Actomyosin

A protein complex that is the essential contractile substance of muscle, composed of the globulin myosin and actin.

Well done I can now put my brain to rest. Never heard of Bradfords, is it a Dictionary.
