Many years ago, the TV advertising jingle went




  • The Esso sign means happy motoring,


  • happy motoring, happy motoring.

  • stop at the Esso sign

do you also recall the advert around that time (1970s?) for the Esso blue paraffin dealer, which came out as Essu Blee Dooler

I seem to recall the jingle ending


"Call at the Esso sign, for Esso Extra"


but it could well have been Stop not Call, it was a long time ago! I think it was before they started putting Tigers into Tanks.

Sorry, jane mark you are wrong. ESSO is Standard Oil. It was originally the Standard Oil Company of New York -SOCONY and became Standard Oil of New Jersey later known as Standard Oil.
