Stumped on this one too


And so it was that she found herself northward bound from Helston in the creaking, swaying coach.....The driver, his face a stream of rain, looked in at the window saying It'll be a wild drive tonight across the moors....There'll be none in this coach going on but you'

I'm sure this is from Jamaica Inn ..the bit where Mary Yellan goes to live with her aunt on Bodmin Moor at the Jamaica Inn.The coachman goes on to say "'Respectable folk don't go to Jamaica any more".

...... and here's the lady that did it !! (Note for shaney: I have both stayed in the Jamaica Inn on many occasions and I lived in Jamaica for 6 years. Is that coachman of yours suggesting ...........??).

My coachman would not dream of suggesting anything of the sort Tatty !!

Thanks for your answer - my gut instinct was Jamaica Inn have not read it for many years, but am going with it - I do not know how to contact people to thank them. I guess this will be as good as it gets. Many thanks. Y :-)
