'A big dollop of fresh cream', says someone I know.   I've heard of jam, or golden syrup, but never fresh cream.   Has anyone else ever heard of it?

Nothing.  My dad always put molasses on his but grey porridge never appealed to me

Golden syrup and banana or just sugar

Grapes and blueberries.

Every morning with porridge made with water.

I just have porridge made with water, no salt, sugar or anything.

I have a banana later

Mostly fruits like berries and banana

Nothing at all.

When I was a child, dad would make the porridge the night before and pop it in the bowl with a sprinkle of sugar which would then melt and go syrupy.

the next day we would heat it in the micro - my fav way of having it all firm and sweet

Maybe he was trying to make cranachan sound healthy 😁

Usually just porridge with nothing added, but recently a table spoon of frozen berries.

Cream on it would seem luxurious.

When I(briefly) used to eat porridge, yes, I put a bit of double cream on it...plus the darkest sugar I could find. Usually molasses sugar. It was the only way I'd eat the stuff.

If I'm having hot porridge, I usually have stewed apple, greek yogurt and maple syruop, if I ran out of greek yogurt, I'd put creme fraiche on it. Overnight oats, just berries, and nuts or seeds

Honey & banana or raspberries. I do like the thought of fresh cream but too extravagant 😁

It's not what I would put on porridge  - it's where I would put the porridge!  In the dog's bowl !  Yuk

Just sugar, but I prefer Reddie Brek.

I make porridge for my wonderful wife, and it's a measure of my love for her that I put honey on it for her.

I hate the smell, the taste, and the feel of the stuff, it is the spawn of the devil as far as I am concerned.

You old romantic, andy :)

Father used to make a huge saucepanful of it on those very icy cold mornings. He and my sister had Fowlers treacle whilst mother and I had soft dark brown sugar. I always make mine now with a good pinch of salt and still put a spoon of sugar on top.

I haven't had readybrek in years - do they still make it?

Indeed they do, unlike Rice Cremola, my all time fave desert, which vanished some years ago.

thanks Andy - I may have to get myself a box

You can make your own rice cremola, it's very easy.

I don't understand how you can enjoy Ready Brek and hate porridge - they are both made from the same raw ingredient, oats.

Honey & a sprinkling of ginger
