I have white patterned voiles up during the Summer months and I lift the large rug as we have wooden floors , usually at the end of September I buy a new rug and curtains which I’ve just done , last years rug has gone into the small bedroom/office, today’s choice is deep red for both as I’ve got red and grey winter cushion covers,
Is there anything you change in the colder months ( apart from the winter duvet?)
No same all year round and very little changes over the years. Just a cosy mismatched look throughout the house. Oh but cushions change. We don't do fashionable!! Our home is over 200 years old. If things wear out we change them. Our lounge curtains stay open winter and summer.
I have a nice thick pair of pyjamas which come out on those cold winter nights.
Hubby, who doesn't seem to feel the cold, still wears his boxers & a t-shirt.
Take down the fire screen in the living room and get the coal scuttle and fire irons out of the shed ready for the first real fire. I have a kind of Scandi feel in my deco so don't change anything. At the front of the cottage I take out the summer bedding plants from the planters and change to autumn things like mini pumpkins and winter pansies, then nearer Xmas all the outside decorations go out -lights on the tree, pine cones and holly and ivy etc.
Yup if you go to Ver-sigh
the palace is decorated according to Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette but is discordant as to time
( summer decoration in autumn)
because the French state was bankrupt and couldnt afford to change them ( new every year obviously)
(Neckers financial reforms voted out by the French Lu-lu or whatever, bankrupted by the French support for the American war.)
My nana in the North of England changed all her curtains in Spring and again in Autumn. This was early 1070's. They went to the dry cleaners then were put away in the airing cupboard. She also had loose covered on the settee and chairs and changed those as well.
I cannot drop off to sleep if my feet are covered, so i always make sure they are poking out of the duvet. During summer months, they are still outside the duvet when i wake up. But in winter months, they mysteriously find their way under the duvet by the time i awaken.
