there's an artist called victor askew wondered if it's something he did
Can anyone please put this qn to bed!
Tupik. An Inuit summer dwelling.
Well done clairex
Why tupik? If it was tupic, that's picture without re, askew i.e. anagram, but can't see tupik
//tupic - a hut or tent made of animal skins used by Inuits in the Canadian Arctic as a summer dwelling (origin: Inuit)//
Can anyone give me a link for the definition of a Tupic. I can find no reference to this alternative spelling of Tupik/Tupiq
^ It's in the link that I have provided above
It is indeed mentioned in this link but this is someone's blog and it could be mis-transcribed. When I've tried to verify it with The OED the dictionary says uh oh. I need a definitive source of this spelling i. e. from a recognised dictionary but I think I've tried them all. I am now emailing Susie Dent for verification-she should know!!
Let us know what you find out, Claire
