All my potted orchids (6) have flowered again and again and I've had them about 5 years. I have never repotted any of them just water every 10 days or so but try to only use rainwater. I've found orchids do best when left alone as much as possible. a new flower shoot usually appears about 2- 3 months after the last lot have died off.
One thing to remember is that the roots like to see the light.
If its in a ceramic pot, take it out. It will have a plastic pot.
I have an orchid at home that constantly produces new flower shoots, and I have 4 at work who just grow leaves - however - one has grown 2 baby orchids.
I've left the baby orchids on the mother plant, but I think its now time to plant them on as they have started to produce their own roots.
