Any winners?

Out of general nosiness - has anyone ever won a prize for either the DTGK or Herculis crosswords? I am hooked on them even though I realise I could have bought the Whittakers Almanac easily with the money I have spent on postage over the years!

have won the pocket almanac three times could do with a change in prizes, like you i am hooked on crosswords and yes i am keeping the post office going the money i spend on stamps, but it keeps the grey matter working!

Not nosiness, JRB, just polite curiosity! I was delighted to win a prize in August this year - the Almanac; trying for first place now! I agree with Jan that the DT could ring the changes with a different prize. Hope you win soon!

Won almanac once.Think winning an expensive fountain pen for cryptic is a waste of time - who uses one these days? I much prefer to win the consolation prize of a book token. Even better to have book tokens as first prize as well.

I'm a fairly new convert to the DTKG crossword but have been doing the Mail on Sunday one for years - in fact I only buy the paper for the crossword. I haven't won yet and my husband frequently points out that I have spent far more on the papers and stamps than the prize money is worth. I like the challenge though, and you never know when you might need those little snippets that you pick up from doing a GK crossword. Book tokens would be appropriate prizes - I've spend a small fortune on reference books which I use for solving the crosswords. I have a set routine 1)brain, 2) books, 3) internet!

Yes I won the first prize of �200 and the alamanac last year and I must say that unlike the express skeleton which I have won runners up prizes with many times the prize arrived the following week

I won the Herculis so long ago that the cash prize came with a case of booze. I do not think that they have had that generous sponsor for some time.

As with some other contributors, I no longer bother to post them. I do find that the prize crosswords are usually more difficult to solve.

i got a whittakes question book this year, not worth winning,it went to oxfam !

yes, i won herculis nearly two years ago. it was a great shock but the �500 came in very handy
