Feeling Reflective

There have been a few posts of late that have been quite eye opening. Yesterday there was a particularly cruel post directed at an ABer who has decided to step away for a while.

I have been accused of being nasty whereas I think I am blunt and honest and the comments I make are only based on the information the OP has previously revealed.

Perhaps it would be a good idea for us all to take a step back from the keyboard and consider how our posts are construed.

There are many sugar coated cyanide posts and some down right cruel ones, both have been evident this weekend sadly.

Many grumble that AB isn't what it once was, well this weekend has proved that. Is it that difficult to be civil when challenging another?

Interesting, Eccles.......Did you put up the post about the large lady who was treated so cruelly by a fellow air passenger?
I think Islay replied too.....about how people had treated her when whe was overweight...

Yet you were both very cruel to Jennyjoan when she posted in a way not to suit you.....as she does but that is her style.....so yes....a step back and think before we post would be nice....x
Popcorn ... check
Glass of wine ... check

And we're off .............................
You eat far too much popcorn, Talbot.......it's not good for you....... :-)
I miss jennyjoan, I viewed the most offensive post towards Islay yesterday .:-(
Reflection is good for us all at times.

Often on a fast moving thread I'm sure many have got caught up in the moment and made unwelcome comments - I'm sure I have at some time.

Equally the written word doesn't always come across just right.

I have cringed at some responses recently, so yes more thought would be a good guide.
It's metaphorical flavoured popcorn (the wine isn't)
Has the thread been removed?
Well you'd be a right numpty to start drinking the metaphorical flavoured wine, Talbot......x
I am quite new to Chatterbank and must say that it is very much like being in a school yard sometimes!

Don't worry about it. There are far, far more important things to feel reflective about than a website.
'I have been accused of being nasty whereas I think I am blunt and honest'

And there's the rub. What 'mood' we ourselves which to convey is often lost in the 'mood' with which the recipient interprets it.
Too right, sj ... Like poor Diana ;0(

It does not cost much to be nice to someone.
If someone chooses to do things differently to you, it is no reason to be sarcastic.
SJ, so true !!
No, Talbot...... ;-)

237.....Not if a member relies on AB for some chat and help.......that's when you need to stop and think about the person posting and refrain from hurting them.....x
I don't watch much TV Talbot and I am not too bothered about Diana as I did'nt know her.
gness - I don't feel that the OP comes into the category that you describe
Then you missed some very cruel posts, 237........x
Did I? I am not sure that I know what you are talking about but never mind. I won't lose any sleep over it. Night night.
