Hey minty...sorry to read this but friends are here as you well know xx
Sorry to hear you've had a bad experience, it's bound to have shaken you.

Allow yourself time to feel sad but treat yourself kindly too as you recover, which you will.x

From what you said, you did a great job. First Aiders are front line responders and can take a great deal of responsibility if first on scene, you did a great job you should be proud.

the recent car smash has really shaken me...I lost dad after a l0ng illness etc but the reality of how a young woman could be taken if I had not been there just shakes me to the core....
Yes, being on the scene brings it home how a whole life can end or change forever in a split second.

You did a good thing as Baldric says, be proud of that.

Our Minty did a great job, not many could have done, you did great girl, hold your head up high and say, 'Yes I did'
Not heard about your recent experience and won't ask for details as you don't want to re-live it but as ever there's plenty of friendly folk here to soothe and nourish.....

thanks all.. I know she is fine, ...stitched up etc..don't want to be self serving but..glad I knew a bit . will take a while to get it out my brain though
Ah.....sounds like you were first rate and I'm sure all involved were glad of your invaluable assistance. Chin up minty girl!
Remember the three Ps of first aid? Preserve life, Prevent deterioration, Promote recovery. You did that. Maybe the situation regarding the crash has brought back memories of your Dad. Don`t forget there is help out there if you need it. Good luck
Everyone on the "bank" is with you Minty. Sound a little like delayed shock, we all hope you are back to your indomitable self soon. Or should that be sooooon. Glenfiddich helps.
Couple of hail Mary's, glass of wine. All better :-)
Generally, I don`t think alcohol is the answer
excellent result minto
leaking petrol must have concentrated your mind....

I think such a reaction as yours is 'normal'
and will get better over time

I hauled a kid out of a crowded pool when on holz in Spain and had nightmares about it for weeks. I never understood why ( live child ) - [ night mare being the kid died and I got blamed ] - but they settled. the dreams. not that the parents sued or anything ....
SJ whadda a party pooper
we arent saying she should get k-lied every night for a week
PP - just my thoughts. If you have a problem it will still be there in the morning - alcohol will only delay things. The only time I ever found booze to help was after 9/11
I had a similar experience, I was fine at the scene helping the young man who was injured, speaking to the ambulance operators and police, practical things etc... but once I had left a short while after I got quite shaky and teary (especially from seeing the accident itself) and it brought back some awful memories of seeing an earlier incident, I won't go in to the details of it but there was a fatality. I went on FB at the time and chatted to people on there which helped along with a very sweet cuppa and a sit down.

Just another reminder of how amazing our emergency services are too.

I'm away to my bed but so many lovely people on here that you can chat to, take care, you did a great thing x
Have just caught up with the 'news' ...thanks for the link, Baldric.

Minty ....you're a STAR ......bit of reaction setting in now, not surprising ...take care xx
Hey minty, you did a fantastic job in preserving that poor girls life.
Chin up girl and open a bottle of wine.
