YES! at least in public areas!
Yes.
Yes.
No. A suicide bomber is not worried about being identified. In fact a burqha draws more attention to the wearer than western clothes

Yes
hc4361 it isnt all about suicide bombers!
yes
hc makes a relevant point

a burqa is useful for hiding things - machine guns bombs etc
and were specifically used for this in Algeria ( 1950s)

but not who you are - as attribute -
you dont look at a leddy in a burqa and think - "hugga burqa"
you are more likely to think -" runaway from leddy in burqa and you will live" !
// hc4361 it isnt all about suicide bombers!//

rattter it is when the fella with the kalashnikov blows himself up in front of you !
I know it isn't all about suicide bombers. By the same token should duvet coats (puffa coats) be banned because anything can be hidden under them.
Or large bags? Duffel bags?

If a person wants to cause harm the easiest way to do it is to blend in.
indeed, the world is full of possible disguises that should be banned, hc

HC, I was at a shopping centre at Preston yesterday, my OH was inside this shop up on a top level, I was people watching then seen this whatever it was going into this shop, it looked ;like something the cat had dragged in, I put myself in the shop assistant / manager / Owner's position and thought, would I serve this thing, I think I would have asked this object to go as I would have feared for the safety of staff.

To add, do they remove this Burka at Airports? or is it against their H.Rs?
If recent news reports are to be believed, ISIS is advising potential terrorists to shave off their beards, wear western clothes, blend in.

A non-Muslim woman wore a burqha to commit a robbery recently. She was still arrested, charged and found guilty so it didn't prevent her being identified.

I serve several burka clad ladies where I work, and whilst they're perfectly polite, and yes, they really are! I still can't get past the feeling that their attire is still totally alien looking to me and just looks 'wrong'. And yes I know this is my problem, but it's an honest one that i'm prepared to admit to.
Go to Harrods just after Ramadam and see the millions being spent by burqha clad women. They're happy to serve them.

And yes, they do have to show their faces at airports and other places. It is done discretely in front of women only.

No BOO, It's not your problem but you and other staff's safety.
Can some one very briefly summarise its purpose?

I would like to see it banned in public btw
You could think that about anyone, TWR. Anyone wearing a burkha would not get very far after committing a crime, they might as well wear a flashing light on their head shouting, here I am, catch me.
It is to protect modesty, OrderLimit, and stop men lusting after them.
