Do British Muslims Tacitly Approve Of Is?

If they believe that IS is a "perversion of Islam" and therefore they don't go to Paradise on death, this should be publicised in every mosque, school and in the Press.

It isn't, of course, and British Muslims can't deny that dead IS terrorists go to Paradise, while publicly denouncing their actions.

Is that approval in your book?

The words 'pretext', 'covet' and 'conformity' come to mind.
Islam appears to be a very flexible religion imo.
Too flexible, Muslims seem to be afraid of saying anything at all about their religion, the chance of offending their tribal leader/imam means instant dishonour. Two faced would be my opinion, Islam is everything to them so they can turn either way. They will not commit to disowning their own.

SevenOp - would you expand and explain?
ISIS activity has been publicly condemned by many Muslims - the fact that it doesn't get wide Press coverage is not their fault, it's the fault of the Press Barons.

And don't forget, Adolf worshipped the same God as Winston.
From my local paper today. "City clerics attack the mirage of IS” This is quite a long article but begins "Senior Muslim clerics in Bradford have issued a fiercely worded condemnation of the distorted interpretation of Islam by terror groups such as Islamic State"
I'd guess most British Muslims want nothing more than a quiet life. If a layman came out and criticise extremists he'd be putting his head above the parapet. There used to be a saying here, 'Whatever you say, say nothing'. It would be as good a piece of advice in Bradford as it ever was in Belfast.

Most victims of IS are fellow muslims.

Not sure how you know what British muslims think and who they do and don't approve. A muslim killing another muslim is not a good muslim.
It was reported today that the latest victims of Boko Haram were Muslims attending a mosque whose cleric had spoken out publically against them. For some, at least, fear may be what keeps them silent.

Let's get back to the point.

Do any British Muslims say that IS fighters do not go to Paradise? NO
If they did, it would be a strong weapon against radicalisation.

Perhaps someone might find some imam's fatwa against IS?

Question Author
Of course, they can happily condemn IS actions' just like Shia and sunni condemn each other, while agreeing they both get the umpteen virgins
Pretext as in setting up a straw man argument, covet as in thought crime, conformity as in you trying to impose your will on other people.
Question Author
Sorry sevenOP

"Pretext as in setting up a straw man argument, covet as in thought crime, conformity as in you trying to impose your will on other people."

Am I supposed to be doing these things? "covet" "thought crime" ????

Does anyone know of any Briyish Muslim who says IS terrorists don't go to Paradise? I'd be very surprised.

Muslims can easily condemn IS actions, but do they stand beside them as brothers in Islam?
When you push far enough, you do tend to get ambivalence.

I was disturbed when, after the Tunisian slaughter, there was a minute's silence nationwide on Friday. It was reported that "Several mosques also observed the silence." I want to know why ALL mosques did not observe the silence and if the ones that didn't have been descended upon by the security services as it was a dead giveaway as to their ideas.

Question Author
That isn't ambivalence.

British Muslims condemn IS actions, but still regard them as brothers in Islam.

They will not say IS terrorists do not go to their Paradise, so do they stand with them against us?

Is there anyone who can deny this?

Deafening silence
Question Author
The silence is getting louder.
Who eventually goes to Heaven isn't a matter for co-religionists. It's God who will judge us on the fateful day.
