I've finished, I think, but have guessed the last two, so some advice over some of the answers would be appreciated.

Colonial individual cross over papers (5) is ZOOID = ZOO + ID but why is ZOO cross?
Good to sell provisions, though not initially to eat lots (6) is GUTTLE = G + UTTLE but what is the relation between UTTLE and selling provisions?

Suttle is to sell provisions. 'Not initially' means it becomes Uttle and then the G for Good is added.

Zo is (a) cross (between a yak and a cow) - the other O comes from Over.
Zooid - 'zo' (also 'zho', cross; hybrid cattle) + 'o(ver)' + 'ID'

Guttle - 'g(ood)' + '(s)uttle' (sell provisions to soldiers in camp)
