It's only Nov 12. Furniture shops have been advertising Christmas delivery since September. Shopping centres are saying they are open until 11pm right up until the big day. Where would most people be without their credit card. Then it's January and the bills come in. Is it really all worth it. Not for me. Only buy what you can afford. Rant over.

.....and a dog.
Umph!
I have never bought more than we/I needed - maybe a few more luxury items but never any waste.

I see all my TV Ads on here,I mute them at home.
Jeza, record everything that you want to watch on ( commercial ) tv then when you watch your programmes you can fast forward through the ads.
Don't worry Jeza, it'll soon be Easter Eggs! Love to you both and hopefully we'll all get through the stress of Christmas.
Jeza, I'm like you. I only buy what I can afford. I don't have a credit card.
If I don't have the money, I don't buy it. It's easy to get carried away at times like Christmas.

I'm not really a bah humbug I just think it's too early.

Both Mic and I are okay Mazie, thanks for asking.
Jeza, I'm buying boxes of biscuits and chocolates for my mother to give to the carers and I hope none is as thoughtlessy cruel as the one you had
Going to daughter's for Christmas. We have a Christmas shelf (larder and freezer) and each contribute an amount each week from October until end of December. spreads the food and fripperies cost.
In retail the task of choosing seasonal lines is way in advance of the actual period people will be buying. It is only reasonable therefore that the merchandise is in the shops asap. Each outlet will want to capture the shoppers ahead of their opposition. I refuse to look at anything about Christmas until after Remembrance Day, but after that it is just about 6 weeks away. Not long now before last date for overseas postings is announced so tempus fugit and all that ;)
I know it's controversial, and what Jeza's carer did with her gift was unforgivable, but if you really want to thank a carer this Christmas, put some cool hard cash in a card, even if it's only a pound.
It's a horrifically overworked and badly paid job and half of us couldn't do what they are asked to.
I do most of my shopping on-line from Hong Kong, China and Taiwan now.

Its mostly shipping free, but make sure you read the reviews of people who have purchased recently.

If you want the ones I buy from, let me know, or Google.
Forgot to say the important bit, its a lot cheaper.
I agree, frog, so may get some M&S vouchers but mother won't understand
Why do DFS think we all want a new sofa at Christmas?
