A friend (?) has described me as solicitous. I think I know what it means, but does it have any negative connotations?

Yes, thanks Sandy and LadyA. That's what I initially thought but it occurred to me that there might be a bit of, "... a caring person - but he overdoes it almost to the point of tediousness..."
