I'm struggling with the top half of this puzzle and am now thinking that it's because I've misled myself on 15A. The answer I have is COVER (C for caught plus Over for excessive, meaning CASE - misprint letter = C). Now I find this doesn't seem to fit with my other answers! Some help here would be much appreciated!

What's the clue for 26a please and what letter count and pattern do you have? Is it one of the themed clues with an incorrect letter in?
There are a few threads from Crosswords in Related Posts below which may help.

Thank you both! I had a mistake in 27D which, thanks to you, is now sorted.
OK, but then 27d begins with A when it seems it should be E ~ (Sp[r]ain).
Rabet - Sp(r)ain dogs Unitarian female.
Dogs here means follows, so the E is on the end.
Thanks for that, slaney.
I am tearing my hair out with regard tomthe top right hand corner. Any hints for 8 and 9 down would be appreciated.

Roam perhaps over valley next to Ohio lake (6)
Cry up softly and growl (6)

Both have a redundant letter which must be removed befor solving.

Thanks
Trying to help without giving the answers.

8D. Surplus letter is the o in 'roam'.
Definition is 'ram', so you are looking for a type of goat.
'Valley' gives RIA. 'Lake' gives 'L'

9D. Surplus letter is the l in 'growl'.
The answer/entry starts with P for 'softly' followed by another word for 'grow'.
Definition is 'cry up'
(Look this up in Chambers, and it will give you the answer).
Thanks Boreas. It didn't help that I had 7a wrong. Finished now. Good puzzle. Kept me guessing almost to the end.
