24 on the hour
24 on the half hour
24 on quater past
24 on quarter to
oh ignore that load of rubbish sorry
I think it would be correct at 12(presuming they both start then), 6, 2:45 and 9:15. So i would say four.
whenever the hour and minute hand are in a straight line with each other?
What about 12 noon, Pixie?
I'm not sure about the 2.45 and 9.15 ones- does it depend on whether the fingers are both the same length (and also the hour hands are not exactly on 2 and respectively).
I'm no good at visualising these things. I need a clock to play with but I've got to go to work now. I'll look back tonight
At 12 o'clock only.
I don't think it is, ael. Because when the clockwise one is on 10 to 4, for instance, the backwards one would be on 8:10- so incorrect.

I thought it was 4 times, 12 oclock and 6 oclock
There is a lesson to be learned here. Don't buy a backwards clock.
I did say 12, factor. 2:45 and 3;15 and 6 would be correct too.
Intuitively, that seems right to me, saintpeter but I'd need to think it through and play with a clock to be sure. It also depends on whether the hands are identical- there may be other answers if they are.
I suspect Googling the question will give you the answer
All the time, if properly wound up.
Hi pixie-I meant there will be two 12 o'clocks- midnight (the assumed starting point) and 12 noon
I see, sorry- two twelve o'clocks! So yes, 5x a day
tried googling factor -fiction came up with nothing
and tilly lol good advise .
Oh yes, 6 o'clock too. I don't think 3.15 and 2.45 are correct, though. As factor-fiction says, the hands are not the same length.
^ and 2 six o'clocks?
...they are all twice in 24 hours, so actually 8x. Lol (too early to think)
Is this a wind-up?
Question Author
it is on a clock where the hands are different lengths
