At the age of 48 sadly another waste life
I once saw her in concert at Wembley in the 90's. She was electrifying.
I am so sad to hear of her death.
My sons grew up singing her songs.
talented, yes - feeling really sorry for her daughter and family, yes; but another one bites the dust. drugs really do wreck people's lives and celebs have nobody around them, it seems, to tell them when enough is enough and she unfortunately echoes so many others: michael jackson, amy winehouse; heath ledger; joachim phoenix etc. all had problems with drink and/or drugs and eventually it gets the better of them in one way or another. an utter waste of a life.
She probably packed more into her life than we could if we lived to 300.
But you can't say that you were surprised - right? She led a very degenerate life, thanks to her husband.
The cause will more than likely be drugs.
She was fine untill she got hooked up with that low life called Bobby Brown.
And you know this because???
Oh...you must be a close friend!!!
Have you been living in a cave ummmm?
ummm....i agree she did experience more in her lifetime than most people can ever imagine. but she also wasted the opportunity afforded to her in the most tragic way.

we should remember that alcohol and/or drug dependency is an illness and not necessarily a choice and is usually judged far more negatively than other mental health problems - and the stigma attached to all is enormous. 'tis very sad for her family and friends who would have watched her spiral into despair and addiction.
You cannot blame other people for someones drug addiction. Simple!!

She 'was' an adult, with a child, she has her own mind. Bobby Brown has nothing to do with it!!
and ummm is also right re: bobby brown. they hadn't been together for years and she was still using. it is an illness....an addiction....usually in tandem with other mental health issues. and people pass the most unpleasant judgement/opinions about the reasons why and worthiness of the person. she was great, really talented and should be credited with that first and foremost, not the other issues. poor lady x

And you know it was nothing to do with Bobby Brown, oh i get it you must have been a close friend.

A beautiful lady with a beautiful voice. Very sad.
Barbara Streisland has made the most apropos summary of her life.

Words to the effect of "She brought so much happiness to so many people, it's a shame that she didn't bring enough to her own life."

A big loss and tremendous voice over 3 octaves worth....
very tallented,beautiful woman. very sad.
Of course I have 'toes'...but I don't blame them when things go tits up. I, as an adult, make my own decisions...good or bad.

She was in a privileged, deservedly so, position....she wasn't trapped by poverty. She could have got help...

Like lcg says....she wasn't with Bobby Brown for years.

Either way...it's sad new. RIP Whitney x
