Puzzling over the answer to 9d, Servant bitten by extremely brave mouse. Black eye must be the answer, it's Lackey inside the b & e from brave, but where does the mouse come into it?

Could someone please explain? 9 dn - Having depression, get a doctor in to raise spriits. (7) it must be "gladden" but how? Similarly 47 ac - With quite intensity, say b- heater's broken(7)...
