Thanks so much for your reply - it was driving me mad, I was sure it was a comedian I hadn't heard of. I was trying every three letter name I could think, except the right one.

He seems to be much more behind the scenes now! I remember him most for
'Not the nine o' clock news' and 'Alas smith and Jones'.
