Has anyone got an answer to no 19? 1000 competed in the race (7)

A clue would do. I've gone through every map etc I have but found nothing with "kran" in which I guess must relate to the first part of the clue but can't fit the rest.

I wasn't going to send this in as I had several left but after a last minute push I've managed to do the rest except 46 which no one else seems to have done anyway

I dare not give a clue to 46 as am sure I would be hunted down!! Will be the clincher I feel.

However will give a clue for the other - another letter can represent 1000, usually when expressed in monetary terms.
I'm not doing this quiz - but just a thought, could 1000 be represented by the letter M instead of K?
mamyalynne - not stepping on your toes, your answer wasn't there when i began typing.
Not at all Fox, that was not the letter I was thinking but may be well on the mark.

FoxLee2 thanks for your clue. I'd considered M but still had no luck. mamyalynne, well done if you've done them all. Is there a chance you could give me a bit more?
There seems to be a pretty reasonable suggestion for No 19 on this earlier thread http://www.theanswerb.../Question1058331.html

thank you so much boxtops et al.
Sorry straydogs I was called away - I do not have the quiz myself but became intrigued by 46 as was obviously a tough one. Suffice to say it does not appear with all letters in every road atlas.
