Just to be pedantic, the actual term is the Garryowen

a chat with a rugby fan and then a check on google shows this manouevre is named after a Welsh international player called Garfield Owen and not the Irish club Garryowen
My google says the term first came into the language in the 1920's. Garfield Owen played in the 1950's. Chambers Dictionary says it is named after the Irish club Garryowen.
