Hi mischips - are you certain of the letters in 17d? I can't come up with anything past 'First step' (as on a winner's podium) so far...
Hi maj, everyone seems to have these letters placed and the consensus is Smart Step though it makes no real sense.

Thank you both. I`m fairly sure that the M is correct as it the M in DOMESDAY BOOK.
I`ll put smart step in even tho` I can`t see why either. It will be interesting to see the answer in a few weeks time.
