Sorry I've rudely not got back to you both earlier - have been out for a game of Bridge (mostly wine and catching-up chat with dear friends!).
Thankyou - both clues at last make sense to me, so I can go to bed in peace , once I have sorted out and laid-up for breakfasts for 14 starting at 7am tomorrow morning (I do farmhouse B&B at home)...Crosswords keep me sane (?) by giving me some private space, when I am not tending our large gardens (my other escape world!).
