Your question is rhetorical. You think all politicians are rotten and corrupt. You posted along these lines earlier. What I again ask you, is, what would YOU do about it, apart from carping and whingeing?
Right then, so you've sacked all the MPs, jolly good job too, greedy load of corrupt misfits. What happens next? Please please try to address this situation.
First of all we must demand a general election, then do our personal bit in actually meeting with our elected MP's on a regular basis and asking them just what they are doing for us, and how often are they attending the House and what real contributions they are making to debate. The real power is in our hands, but sadly we fail to use it, me included I must add. I am going to make an effort from now on to pester my MP regularly.
I don't think MPs can just stop being an MP just like that. It isn't a job like those that we have, they have been elected by the populace - the only way they can be released from their obligations is to apply to the Chancellor for the Stewardship of one of the Chiltern Hundreds, this being an office of profit under the crown means that they are no longer allowed to be a member of Parliament.
Prudentia, all you will succeed in doing is pushing up his expenses bill for all the secretarial work, paper, envelopes and stamps that he will need to answer your letters.
whiffey-- I do not think that every MPis corrupt and rotten, nor have I ever indicated that this could be the case.
I merely said that I was disgusted at the present state of affairs in Parliament at the present time and had opted out of the voting system yesterday.
You indicated that I was irresponsible not to vote, and then said you had voted for BNP as well as spoiling your ballot paper. If this is true how responsible is that?
So what is it that you take issue with in my latest post?
face to face meetings are what I am planning and having rung my MP's office this afternoon, he 'would be delighted to meet with me and discuss any matters of interest and concern '. Is he in for a shock!!!!
brenda, I at least voted, whereas your decision not to visit the ballot box was irresponsible, and in my view dilutes the importance of your view. If you feel about something, get out there and do something about it rather than sitting in the lounge. I may or may not have voted BNP - but if you choose not to vote at all, then you are entirely innefectual.
As an Eyre of Hassop once I get the bit between my teeth I never let go until there is a satisfactory outcome. I am outraged at the current situation, it must be changed but the self serving polititians will do nothing and hope that we will go away. I don't do going away, I do hassle!!!
