Just treated myself to a gold bangle. Bought it in a pawnshop - very expensive - anybody tell me how to buff it up well.

Wee on it.
Honestly - I 'm sure I read that somewhere.
Send it to my jewelry cleaning shop and ill do it free of charge, just get my po box address from Irobsuckersblind.com.
soak it in cola over night sugar free cola that is and buff well with a lint free cloth
Soak in hot water with a dash of Fairy washing up liquid for a couple of hours, then buff up with a dry cloth. Just as good as the more expensive jewellery cleaners.
If its expensive then go with a real gold cleaner!

I do feel guilty about buying this bangle but I have worked for 40 years and just bought en promptu. The bangle from the pawnshop cost 300 so I do want to be careful how I get it cleaned. However thanks for all your answers.

Enjoy your bling bling!
Rufus have you ever used this? What's it like?

Just asking as my nan bought a silver cleaner (I know not the same thing) and used it and it wrecked her silver.

How much buffing up does it need?
I agree with moonshine about the detergent and water or if it is in need of more than a quick clean then you can use ammonia.

Mix 1 part ammonia in 6 parts water. Soak for 1 minute. Take out and dry with a soft cloth and then polish with another soft cloth. You shouldn't use this method very often.
Cathy i use the argos silver cleaner all the time, ive had it for a year or so and it works miracles, saying that though i have left an earring in the solution fo half an hour and it went really dark,( my fault as your only meant to leave jewelry in there for 30 seconds or so ) but that went after i buffed it with my silver buffing cloth!

Rufus I'll have to tell her to get the one from Argos as no idea where it came from but sure wasn't there. The one she got she probably got in the war ....
