If you have the only three possible words then you are almost certainly correct. Hope it's not giving too much away to say that taken together they make a relevant anagram.

Must have been quick as I didn't see it.

Whoever it was needing help should try again!

on the 31st Oct Rapparee and Cruciverbalist both posted the Listener link at the same time, and Cruciverbalists thread has been removed, I assume because someone suggested the theme.
In that case, the removal has backfired. I had discounted the suggestion, but now I suspect that it might have been correct. Still don't understand the "programme broadcast" bit, however. Slowly getting there...
As somebody on the original thread commented, it really was a crass act.

I too had discounted it, but when snippets began to emerge the fact that it was in my head meant that I got the phrase much more quickly than I otherwise would. So the edge was taken off my overall enjoyment of a fine offering from Phi.

Only quibble was the entries at 11,17 & 29d. In my view, a rather tame ending to a puzzle which deserved better....but I'm no setter and I appreciate that there are constraints to ones options.
Bobbycollins - re 11,17 and 27 down is there some connection I have missed? There seem to be only 3 possible words I can make from the letters available which appear unconnected.
Sorry 11, 17 and 29 down.
Fortunately I didn't see the original thread so the enjoyment of the pdm to a fine offering from Phi wasn't spoilt.

(xword_fan have another look at the first line of the preamble...'11, 17 and 29 down give the programme BROADCAST')
Yes - I know ALL the letters it's just where to put the 6 unconfirmed ones.
As far as I can see they make real words at least 2 of which are just about relevant.

Eventually cottoned on to the first line of the preamble. Still got a couple of answers I don't understand (22D & 24D). Unless I've missed one, one of them must be one of the 7 (shades of Battlestar Galactica here!). Time to scour Chambers yet again.
I didn't see the original thread either so I don't know whether it would have helped. I think that the three theme words are OK, I assume that there are only three possible answers given the checking letters. I did think that the 7 should have been 8, with 4 of each type making things nice and symmetrical. Very enjoyable anyway.
I realised late last night the "4" words - somewhat tenuous link to the second one though! Still all done now-thanks bobbyc.
Does anybody have a link for EV?

Mine has gone AWOL following the revamp of the Telegraph website
After a week away abroad I got late to this week's crossword and missed all the excitement of the removed thread. Nice to have confirmation about the "broadcast" aspect which was the conclusion I'd come to, but wasn't 100% sure. Thanks for that.

Deviant, if you're still looking for confirmation of your 22d and 24d answers, post another thread and I'll suggest a couple of hints.
This link will probably assist Deviant
.... and this one
I see Mysterons still hasn't got the hang of giving hints.
