on saturday a man (local druggie) suffered a fit whilst in my shop, i put him in the recovery and made sure his airways were clear whilst a customer called an ambulance.

this person came into the shop tonight to have a chat as he had been released from hospital this afternoon and he was already back on the drink and drugs?

perhaps i should of let him go in his own pool of blood?

yes the person that had the fit is possibly a worthless person but you are worth more and you would feel guilty for the rest of your life

yeah i understand that, no i couldnt let him have died but i had sleepless nights over the weekend and then he strolls in this afternoon and was 2 sheets to the wind?

i said to him, next time im gonna carry out to the road and let someone else take over?
great question Ruges!

every time i visit here it's time wasted. only few people on here worth my time or my attention.
There but for the grace of God.............
The lord will eventully take him to a better place maybe...

Meanwhile : Be bloody carefull when dealing with any drug user.

Always have a clean pair of disposable rubber gloves behind the counter...NEVER give the kiss of life to a suspected drug user, as if they vomit when you blow the contents of the mouth may enter yours.

Needle users often have Hep A or Hep B or even AIDS.

Clearing airways means you can get bitten or come in contact with body fluids ie saliva or blood.

Searching through pockets can find anything from used needles to weapons.

Be safe - Be careful - Be Aware.

Usually talking to my mother. Whatever I tell her goes in one ear, out the other and I find myself in a postion a week or so later listening to a conversation that starts why didn't you tell me......

I'd blame her age but she's quite young so I guess she's just dopey.
She may be on drugs !
rugeleyboy, no matter what, in my opinion you did the right thing at the time.

Yes I agree, however if this person was a known drug user then care should have been taken.

Simple things like wearing gloves could save your own life
Far too many times :( The ones that spring to mind were a guy whose life I saved as he ignored his diabetes and nearly went into a coma and it was only me pushing for a nurse to check his blood pressure which potentially saved his life.

He still didn't get how dangerous the whole situation could have been.

Another time I lent a load of very expensive (for a student) law books to help someone and never got them back.
