Where is the revenue from creating browsers such as firefox or opera?

Has it crossed your mind that there is more to life than making money? Some people do things for the sense of achievement, and as a service to others.
Or, to put it another way, they make their money in the same way that people who answer questions on AB do...
I'm with rojash... firefox for example spawned from Mozilla (the browser, and the company), who wanted a better browser than what Microsoft and Netscape offered at the time (Netscape 6 onwards uses the Gecko engine that the Mozilla guys split and developed).

However, firefox gets money through donations (it is in certain companies' interests to have it developed and improved).

Another way firefox makes money is with their search box, top-right. It comes by default with google enabled, which google pay for.

Yes Rojash and more power to their elbow however to get an investment that size u need to get the money to repay it from somewhere as shown by Ethels article
