Almost finished the kitchen and after 10 weeks have all new appliances working. 2 weeks after installing the washing machine and I week after the tiles went down, it leaked. Tiles up, mopped up and refitted yesterday. Man comes out today for boiler fault and problem is with main supply.
Transco have been here for 2 hours, have now cut us off till tomorrow when they come back and dig the garden. So back to the fan heater, microwave and boiling the kettle for a wash - exactly where I was when I moved in weeks ago. My husband seems happily distracted by the fact they have given us a fan heater and hot plate to keep.
Cheers!

Back in ye old days they never had hot water. Is there a stream nearby?? lol
Well I spose, whilst your cooking up a 'feast' on your hotplate, you could watch the electric meter spinning round twice as fast once you've put that fan heater on....

No. It's not too early for a drink lol :) xxx

There's a canal. If it wasn't so cold I'd jump in! Anyway, have a heart 4get, I have roughed it here since July you know, albeit by choice.
some of us have to wait til April, so stop ya whinging lol

Good luck with the kitchen, itll all be worth it
I have an arbitrary 'decency' time of 12 midday. Before this, drinking feels wrong, but the sun is now well over the yardarm !!
I like to wait outside the off license at 7am with my mangy dog, swearing at the passers by.
I think you well deserve a drink my friend. Bottoms up!
Never too early for a drink, provided you've got the day off that is! The canal should be plenty warm enough, the trick is to vigorously dry yourself off as soon as you're back on dry land. I have jumped into a few rivers that were being fed by snow melting straight off a mountain, likely temperature between 0 and 3 degrees celsius and you're only cold for a minute if you dry yourself off quick enough and get dressed.
Have some whisky then you will be nice and warm to jump in the canal. :-)

Had the drink. Fetching the towel. Think I'm cooled down to about canal temp now. Anyway, too cold to move hands to type. Bye (for now - I fully expect to resurface!!)
A good place to put your gloved up hands to keep them warm is in your oxters!
