I've just set up my network laying a cable from the upstairs to the downstairs. However, i've had to route the cable through an existing hole through which there are 2 hot water pipes also going. My question is....Will the heat affect signals running through the cable and......is there any chance of the cable melting(water pipe so the temp is below 100c) due to the heat if the cable happens to touch one of the pipes? Cheers
Q1: No
Q2: No
However the plastic insulation of the network cable might deteriorate over time. Why not just wrap a bit of insulation round either the pipes or the cable at the point where they pass through the hole?
