Error 678 when attempting to connect to internet

Quite often when I try to connect to the internet I am unable to do so and get a message 'error 678'. Does anyone know what this means? As is obvious I am not terribly computer literate!

Error 678
According to Talktalk Error Code Finder, it is normally due to incorrect 'connectoid' settings or the wrong modem being used.
