We used to get two delivered each week - this stopped some years ago.

Cost and lack of advertising, I suppose.  Shame really, it was useful for local announcements.

Usually a spin-off from the paid for local daily paper. They always seemed to be advertising for people to deliver it. I guess it wasn't a well paid job.

Not for years, went from 2 being delivered, then 1, after a while we had to pick that one up from the village hall.

There is still one produced OH reads it when he goes for his haircut and brings it home if there is anything of particular interest.

There was one delivered a few months ago.  It seemed to be full of conspiracy theories. Can't remember its name.  Apart from that I haven't seen one for years.

Why doesn't your OH leave the paper for others to read? I'm surprised the hairdressers allow it to be taken away.

maybe they have a stack of them for people to take if they want to - my chip shop has...

Yes we get a free monthly local magazine. Wouldn't call it a newspaper though. WI news, parish council, local first chool, church services, events and ads. Photcopied and stapled style.

Prudie, we get a quarterly Village Voice magazine, sounds similar.

Yes...but it's just monthly. I keep it for when I have to do house plant repotting.

I had to beg my neighbour for her old newspapers the other day when I needed to pack a box of glasses. Can't remember the last time we had a newspaper in the house

You can probably still see them online.

Exactly that.  I had a friend who ran a local one, very successful for a number of years but then cost of printing and the distribution started to overtake the revenue from advertising. He kept it going and was bought out (for a song) and the new owners collapsed the business a year or two later.

I get a monthly one delivered by Waitrose advising on new products and giving me recipe ideas.

Rivetting.

I do like the Crossword though.

A broad range of topics, Ladybirder, from retail through mental exercise and on to heavy industry.
