Another overcrowded rubber boat capsized off Calais earlier this week.
Me thinks the sooner Rwanda gets ,literally, off the ground then hopefully we will see fewer of these fatal disasters. Will Rwanda deter these chancers?

"How will the immigrants know, before they set sail across the Channel, that they will probably end up in Rwanda?"
They almost certainly won't end up in Rwanda and they will know that. They can get news on the latest iPhones and discover what is already known. They can then use the "calculator" function on their latest iPhone to do a few sums.
The Rwanda plan, if it ever gets implemented, has an initial capacity of 200 migrants. This year it looks like "only" around 30,000 will have arrived by small boat. Even without the benefit of a calculator and taking advantage only of my primary school education, I reckon that just one in every 150 arrivals (at most) would end up in Rwanda. That seems pretty good odds to me and still worth making the trip.
The Rwanda Plan is a nonsense. Its cost is enormous and its deterrent value is as close to zero as makes no odds.
