Hi Canary, well at least it’s news, I never cared for Teresa May, I found her to be weak , the Tories now need someone like Thatcher to lead them now, Boris has gone but he was a larger than life character, he’s a bit like Marmite :0)
Slimy, salty and spreadable.
You didn’t like him then , Douglas ? ;)
What a surprise! And so soon after Nadine Dorries’ damning letter of resignation was published too! A coincidence - or a futile exercise in damage limitation perhaps. Coming from a woman who hated Boris - clearly with a vengeance - albeit despised and unfit for purpose herself - she’s whistling in the wind with this one. Only a fool would take it seriously.
She is right.
She has a book to sell (don’t they all) so exactly what you would expect.
She had a majority which she frittered away in a needless General Election, which backfire. Leaving her at the mercy of the opposition in her own party. And the rest is history.
Based on experience, who was the most suitable woman for being an MP ... Theresa May, Nadine Dorries or Liz Truss?
Fire burn and cauldron bubble. :-)
Blimey, you’re brave Bobbisox.

Even though, without a single shadow of a doubt, Thatcher was the greatest PM this country had seen in my lifetime, there’s people on this board who inexplicably refer to her as being evil.

I agree, we need a proper statesperson, and really the last proper statesperson we had was the late and great MT.
Strangely enough DD, I disliked the woman with a passion when she was in power ,coming from a mining community myself but I’ve always said she was a fearless strong leader , one we’ve never seen since
Labour closed more mines than the Conservatives…but no one mentions that.
Twas a certain Mr Blair who finished me with Labour for good
That’s always been an inconvenient truth Naomi.
Naomi; "Labour closed more mines than the Conservatives…but no one mentions that."
I've read it many times here and elsewhere. You are not part of some silent muzzled majority.
Yes , they did but I’d say being in the heart of a mining community seeing family’s torn apart under her Premiership and seeing the fights take place , it was ingrained in me to dislike her, I look back at times and know as I’m a lot older , who the ‘baddies’ it was the militants and now I admire her for her stand against them and their strikes, I suppose I always have had a hidden respect for the woman

Nadine may be right about a Top Tory Group.

After all, they dumped Margaret Thatcher, Teresa May, and Liz Truss.
Canary doesn’t like women in power. It’s 2023, time to shed your sexism.

Bobbisox at 7.09 - exactly.
Slimy, salty and spreadable.
I was never lied to by a jar of marmite - am I missing something ?
// Labour closed more mines than the Conservatives - but no one mentions that. //

Well Torax3 does all the time. And it isn’t really true.
Labour closed a lot of pits 74-79 an also some after 1997.
The Conservatives closed a lot of pits under a brief reign of Margaret Thatcher, with nothing to replace them. She denied that was their was a hit list of pits, but after the strike was beaten, scores of pits were closed.
Anyone claiming Thatcher underperformed on crushing the NUM is belittling her achievement.
Women in power. The norm in this house.
