....on what legal basis are the police allowed to remove property? It cannot be merely that it causes offence. Well if it is, is it enough that I call the police over anything I am offended by and they'll remove it?

Do you think they would have a field day on here, TTT? ;)
They can remove anything that they believe is part of a criminal enquiry as I'm sure you know.

wouldn't they be better employed investigating REAL crimes For Funks Sake!
nice photo showing Cruella's horns; shame I can't see if her hoofs are cloven
Owning golliwogs is not illegal so it can only be because they caused offence. What a complete waste of time, effort and resources. Whoever complained needs to get a grip.

Ooooo - that's a bit cynical Sandy. could be tho'
Having been the recipient of a CAMRA award, Sandy, i wouldn't think the pub needed much publicity. And, if the ale's as good as it's made out to be, i don't think it'll be losing many customers over this farce.
As a young girl I had a Gollywog doll and a Gollywog money box.
Were my parents committing a hate crime then or is it one of these recent things made up by someone who has nothing better to do?

I loved my Golly - and my Golly brooches. If someone is offended by them - well, I'm sorry, but please curb your enthusiasm. There are many more real things to be offended about - modern slavery for instance?
P.S. I still have an old Enid Blyton story-book in which the Gollies are the heroes, so they were not denigrated.
